Two exciting events taking place at the homestead this week...Friday is Ground Hog Day and that means it's time for our annual Ground Hog Day party! Every year since 1994, my family gathers and has an indoor picnic by the fireside. BBQ fare including hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, potato salad and strawberry shortcake for dessert helps us to pass the hump as we head into mid-winter and try to beat the blahs. Naturally, it wouldn't be complete without some sort of ground hog day themed dessert or table favor along with watching the movie Ground Hog Day. Yes, we've watched it every year. We even have trivia challenges throughout or after the movie. So much fun!! One year we did balloons and sunglasses as the table favors, another year, when the boys were small, I had them color ground hog book marks for everyone. So, even if you think it will be an early Spring, don't forget your booties because it's cold out there! And Winter slumbering in the open air, Wears on his smiling face a dream of Spring!-Excerpt from Samuel Taylor Coleridge's "Work Without Hope".
Then, Sunday is Superbowl Sunday! WOOT!!! Who are you rooting for? We, of course, are Patriots fans...GO PATS!! Going to have some friends over and enjoy the competition, along with great fellowship and food! Another excuse to eat!
So, what are you all up to? In the meantime, I'm working on a pair of fingerless gloves, anticipating the warmer days when just a little hug of warmth is just what my hands need. Today though I had to take a break because despite the warmer temps we've been having, the forecast changed overnight and the dusting to an inch of snow became 8-10 inches of snow! I needed to go shovel!
