Selecting Home Decor Accents

When looking around your home, the key to establishing a cohesive look can seem daunting. So many times people tell me they love my home and think I'm some kind of decor specialist. 

While I do love to decorate my home, I knew long ago I was eclectic and though I like a magazine decorated look, I preferred the collection of bits and pieces from my life, places I've been, things I like and my love for primitive.

What often pulls things together though is earthly elements with fiber and texture. I have an overall primitive decorating style but my bedroom is Tuscan, my den is woodland and my house more modern with a seaside bathroom. 

What pulls it together is similar color schemes and knickknacks that have a more old world feel. Table runners and wall hangings really bring in warmth and softness plus make a statement of personality. 

You can buy from a box store, have an imported dime a dozen item that might last a few months. Or, you can have a carefully designed, handcrafted item that not only pops but captures your home's personality and warmth.
